Journey to Mystical Blagaj

We loved the scenic drive through valleys of fruit trees and Old Tsar vineyards to the gorgeous town of Blagaj - but the wonders didn't stop there. The town has the largest karst spring in Europe, plus it's filled with some of the most incredible historical monuments in Bosnia. We went exploring through a living museum inside a 17th-century Ottoman House and even got a taste of the famous Bosnian coffee.

Lunch With a View in Mostar Old Town

The Old Town is crammed full of traditional restaurants serving local delicacies and the famous Bosnian coffee. Grab one of the coveted terrace tables with gorgeous views of the river and the Stari Most and drink in those views, absolute bliss! On a sunny day you might also be lucky and spot some divers jumping off the bridge in action as you eat. Incredible experience!

Go back in time to the 1990s, when Sarajevo was under siege. The Sarajevo Tunnel of Hope was built as a lifeline to the city during its attack in the Bosnian War and our Local Specialist gave us a special personal insight into this dark time in Bosnia's history. Explore the museum and hear stories of how the citizens of Sarajevo survived for four years on the supplies smuggled through the tunnel.

WHAT TO EAT & DRINK IN BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA

It’s not hard to get in the mood for some Bosnian food with everything from hot meat dumplings and grilled sausages to thick bean soups on the menu.

They say that Bosnians have been eating cevapi for around 500 years and every region has their own special recipe. These grilled meat sausages are usually made with a mix of beef, lamb or pork, although no matter where you go, it’s practically the rule to eat them with raw onions wrapped in Bosnian pita bread.

Klepe

Almost everyone’s grandmother makes the best klepe in Bosnia, so it shouldn’t be hard to get your hands on these dumpling delights! Klepe is similar to ravioli and filled with anything from ground meat to cheese and spinach. They’re baked in a heavenly blend of garlic, paprika and sour cream and best eaten fresh out of the oven.

Bosnian Bean Soup

If you’re looking for the ultimate Bosnia comfort food, ask for a warm bowl of Bosnian bean soup. It’s been around for hundreds of years and is made from dried beans, vegetables, and smoked meat like pork ribs stewed in a paprika roux. Pick up a slice of fresh bread before you tuck in so you can mop up every last drop.
